Cinemax renews ‘Banshee’

Original drama earns second 10-episode season

Cinemax has renewed original series “Banshee” for a second season that will premiere in 2014.

Jonathan Tropper, David Schickler, Peter Macdissi, Alan Ball and Greg Yaitanes exec produce the series, which launched its 10-episode first season Jan. 11. Antony Starr stars in the series.

Cinemax also said that in season two, writers John Romano (“Monk”), Evan Dunsky (“Two and a Half Men”), and Doug Jung (HBO’s “Big Love”) will join Schickler and Tropper, who conceived and wrote the first-season episodes.

“Banshee” premiered Jan. 11, drawing a combined 731,000 viewers over two airings (483,000 for the official premiere). On the most recent Friday, “Banshee” was seen by 614,000 viewers (405,000 on the first airing of the night).
