Cinedigm Buys Australian Broadcasting TV Episodes

Deal covers rights for US, Canada, Latin America

Making a move into the international market, Cinedigm has acquired digital/VOD rights for the U.S., Canada and Latin American to over 1,000 TV episodes from the Australian Broadcasting Corp. library.

The deal includes prison drama series “Correlli,” starring Hugh Jackman; “An Audience with Dame Edna” series; “Outland,” the 2012 series about a gay sci-fi fan club; comedy “Double the Fist”; comedy series “The Librarians” and comedy-satire “At Home with Julia,” about Australia’s first female Prime Minister.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp. is Australia’s national public broadcaster.

“This acquisition reflects the remarkable fluidity of today’s international entertainment marketplace and the ever-growing importance of efficient, cost-effective delivery of digital content worldwide,” said Cinedigm topper Chris McGurk in a statement. “ABC has a reputation for superb, varied product and our audiences will now have the opportunity to enjoy that programming in their own regions via devices of their choosing.”
