Follows in father's footsteps in winning award

“Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace has won the 2013 Paul White Award for lifetime achievement and service to electronic journalism from the Radio Television Digital News Assn., joining Mike Wallace to become the first father-son combo to win the honor.

Wallace, also a contributor to Fox News Channel’s “America’s Election HQ” coverage, has won three Emmys and a Peabody among his many career honors. He previously worked at ABC News for 14 years, after a long stint with NBC News, where he served as chief White House correspondent from 1982-1989 and anchored “Meet the Press” from 1987-1988.

”In a career spanning 40 years and three television networks, Chris Wallace exemplifies the journalistic tradition of holding the powerful accountable,” RTDNA exec director Mike Cavender said. “He works tirelessly to demand answers from America’s leaders on the pressing issues of our time.”

Added RDTNA chairman Vincent Duffy: “Journalism has benefitted greatly from the contributions of two generations of the Wallace family.” The late Mike Wallace, long-time co-host of CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” received the award in 1991.

The Paul White Award was established in 1956, in honor of CBS’ first news director. Past winners also include Linda Ellerbee, Steve Kroft, Christiane Amanpour, Charles Gibson, Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Bob Schieffer, Ted Koppel, Pauline Frederick and Edward R. Murrow.

Wallace will receive the honor Aug. 25 at the 2013 Excellence in Journalism national convention in Anaheim.
