CBS Sports Promotes Berson to President

Will continue to report to McManus

David Berson has been elevated to president of CBS Sports, continuing to report to CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus.

Berson had been serving as exec veep of CBS Sports and prexy of CBS Sports Network since 2011. He will continue to be involved in all aspects of CBS Sports’ day-to-day management and  lead the cable sports channel.

The exec has helped close a variety of programming and talent deals, while also spearheading  CBS Sports Network’s rebrand from CBS College Sports Network and bolstering the cabler’s programming.

“David’s contributions and expertise in all areas of our business, including programming, production and business affairs, have managed to exceed our high expectations since he joined CBS Sports,” said McManus. “This is a natural evolution for David to assume additional responsibilities at CBS Sports, working alongside me on the day-to-day management of both CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network.”

Berson previously spent 16 years with ESPN, leaving there as exec veep of program planning and strategy.
