CBS Renews 18 Primetime Programs

Eye still in talks for WBTV's 'Two and a Half Men'

CBS, primetime’s top-rated network, won’t have many holes to fill this fall after renewing 18 of its series for the 2013-2014 season.

In the comedy sector, CBS has given new seasons to “2 Broke Girls,” “Mike & Molly” and “How I Met Your Mother,”  along with the previously announced return of “The Big Bang Theory.”

Reality program vets “The Amazing Race” and “Survivor” were renewed, along with “Undercover Boss.” Newsmags “60 Minutes” and “48 Hours Mystery” will also return this fall.

Finally, in the drama realm, shows renewed include: “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Person of Interest,” “Elementary,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “The Mentalist,” “Blue Bloods” and “The Good Wife.”

CBS stated that it’s still in talks with Warner Bros. TV regarding the return of “Two and a Half Men.”

Missing from the slew of renewals are “Vegas” and “Golden Boy,” which were recently rescheduled on the CBS lineup. “Vegas” is moving to Friday nights, while “Golden Boy” received a dose of confidence from the Eye as it was handed a more permanent spot on its Tuesday night sked.

“CSI: NY,” “Criminal Minds” and “Rules of Engagement” were also not included in today’s renewals.

Eye is currently TV’s top network among adults 18-49 and 25-54, with “NCIS” and “Big Bang Theory” routinely outperforming competitors on other broadcast nets.

please get rid of how i met your mother…this show is just dumb

  2. Jean Herring says:

Please keep NCIS, Golden Boy, Person of Interest, Elementary, Blue Bloods, The
Good Wife, Mentalist and The Big Bang.

  3. EK says:

    What no NCIS? Bad report.

  4. JOE S HILL says:

CBS’s current schedule is intresting,,but “TWO AND A HALF MEN” has pretty much outlived its
value-and it will, like so many long running shows, live forever in syndication and DVD sales.
as for “CRIMINAL MINDS”,,i figured it would be picked-up by ABC,since they co-produced the
series with CBS-kind of the same deal with “MEDIUM” which was an NBC series that CBS also
produced, and later added it to their network in its last season. otherwise, its really no big loss,if
“CSI-NY” gets the ax,,since “CSI:MIAMI” ended its run,a year ago. but with respects to “TWO AND
A HALF MEN”,the sitcom debuted in Fall 2003,,and that’s a long haul-but,if CBS and Warner Bros.
can squeze a little more life out of that show, then all power to them!

  5. Oh, “Criminal Minds” had better be back. Otherwise the only reason I’ll have my TV on CBS at any time will be for “Big Bang Theory”!

  6. Ryan Van de Kamp Buchanan says:

Was it announced prior to the current opening of this season that CSI NY and Criminal Minds were shooting their final season? Or has their ratings been struggling? Is this announcement a final conclusion of CBS’ roster of next season?
