CBS handed out three pilot orders Tuesday evening, including one to the TV adaptation of “Beverly Hills Cop.”
From Sony TV, “Beverly Hills Cop” will be a continuation of the movie franchise. Shawn Ryan will pen the pilot and exec produce alongside Eddie Murphy, who is slated to star with Brandon T. Jackson. Marney Hochman will also exec produce. “Backstrom,” a drama based on a Swedish book series, centers on an offensive detective as he tries to change his self-destructive behavior. “Bones” creator Hart Hanson will pen the pilot and exec produce with Leif G.W. Persson and Niclas Salomonsson. 20th TV will produce. Finally, CBS ordered a pilot for multi-cam comedy “Friends with Better Lives.” Laffer centers on a group of 30-something-year-old friends and will be produced by 20th TV in association with Kapital Entertainment. Dana Klein, who served as producer on Peacock’s “Friends,” will write and exec produce the pilot with Aaron Kaplan.CBS orders trio of pilots
