Goodbye ‘Breaking Bad’: Showbizzers React to the Finale

Bryan Cranston Emmys

On September 29, AMC aired the final episode of “Breaking Bad,” thus ending the shocking tailspin of turning Bryan Cranston’s Walter White from, as creator Vince Gilligan likes to say, Mr. Chips into Scarface.

The drama has been an Emmy darling, most recently receiving the top dramatic series nod at the 2013 Emmy Awards, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that Hollywood insiders joined other fans on social media to say goodbye to “Breaking Bad.” Here, we’ve captured a few of our favorite Twitter reactions to the series finale.

  1. Did Walter freeze to death in the snow-covered car? Was the whole ‘going home one last time’ theme his dying hallucination while listening to Marty Robbins sing of doomed cowboy-love?
While there is no easy answers given to many details(why did Walt skip out from GrayMatter. Gretchen? Couldn’t handle being an ’employee’ of Elliot and Gretchen?) (Ricin. Unless Walt cooked 50 or so beans, an oral dose is usually drastically icky, but not fatal), the sense that some of what happens is a dream is inescapable.

  2. Chris Sober says:

Glad the character died. Meth is sick and the show was just too depressing.

  3. Wow! now thats the way to end a series.
A contemporary western with Mr White breaking bad, becoming Heinseberg, and full circle so that
Walter White was a real hero…Big big congrats and emmy’s to all involved , writers, actors, producers and the whole crew..a class show that is clearly in the top 5 of all time…Bravo! Vince wrote and directed a masterful fitting closing episode. Andrew Wald

  4. Rain says:

Best. Ending. Ever. Wrapped it all up in true Walt style. Couldn’t have ended any better. Just what I was looking for. I salute the cast, and Vince Gilligan..thank you for ending the ride in a completely satisfying, and true to the series, way. After being sorely, sorely disappointed with the ending of have restored my faith in writing, to a completely different level. Way to go Vince, way to go. Kudos.

Breaking Bad was a better last season than Dexter by far, though the ending of Dexter was as perfect to me as the end of breaking bad. The way he SPOILERS puts Debra in the water, and the self-sacrifice was brilliant. The rest of the season could have been a lot faster though.
