Based in Singapore, Ang will oversee the networks’ robust portfolio of channels across Southeast Asia, including AXN, Sony Entertainment Television, beTV, ONE, Animax and the recently-announced GEM. In addition, he will continue to manage the company’s interest in joint-venture networks AXN and Animax in Korea, as well as Televiva in Indonesia.
He reports to George Chien, executive vice president, networks, Asia-Pacific for SPT.
The move is a further promotion for Ang who first joined SPT Networks, Asia as financial controller in 1997.
It is also a further reshuffle following the August departure of Ricky Ow as executive VP of Sony Pictures Television and Ow’s subsequent appointment to the top job at Turner Broadcasting System in Asia.
