ABC Orders Second Season of Summer Drama ‘Motive’

Motive ABC Ratings

ABC is loading up again on summer scripted originals, giving a second season order to Bell Media’s crime drama “Motive.”

Alphabet has given a 13-episode order to the CTV series created by Daniel Cerone and exec produced by Cerone, James Thorpe and Dennis Heaton. Series wrapped its first season run on Aug. 29.

“Motive” focuses on crime stories from the perspective of why, rather than how, the crime was committed. Louis Ferreira and Kristin Lehman star play detectives; other cast members include Lauren Holly, Roger Cross and Brendan Penny.

ABC also gave a second season nod to summer soap “Mistresses,” and it has another season of beat-cop drama “Rookie Blue” also on deck for next summer.
