3 die in helicopter during reality TV shoot

Production was under way at Polsa Rosa Ranch in Acton, Calif.

Three people died in a helicopter crash at the Polsa Rosa Ranch while filming a Discovery Channel reality show early Sunday morning.

A military-themed unscripted project from Eyeworks USA (formerly 3 Ball Prods.) began lensing at the Acton, CA-based ranch Saturday. Chopper crash occurred around 3:30am Sunday morning. LA County Fire dispatcher Robert Diaz says all on board were killed.

Eyeworks issued a statement on Sunday: “We can confirm that a helicopter crash occurred this morning while shooting a new series for a cable network, which resulted tragically in three fatalities. We are cooperating fully with the authorities. We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those involved.”

Discovery also stated: “A production company was shooting a show for Discovery Channel when this tragic accident occurred. We are all cooperating fully with authorities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families.”

Polsa Rosa Ranch caters to film, TV and commercial shoots, and features a variety outdoor set spaces including jungles, bridges, airstrips and rivers.
