Vodafone Completes $10 bil German Cable

LONDON — U.K. cell-phone operator Vodafone, which is looking to expand its fixed-line, broadband and television biz, has completed its Euro 7.7 billion ($10 billion) takeover of Germany’s top cabler, Kabel Deutschland.

Vodafone, which now holds 76% of the German company’s stock, is cash rich after it sold its 45% stake in U.S. mobile operator Verizon Communications for $130 billion.

Kabel Deutschland has an extensive cable network in Germany, where Vodafone plans to expand its operations.
