"Low Winter Sun" will air in Central and Eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal and Asia
The announcement was made today by Bruce Tuchman, prexy of AMC/Sundance Channel Global, who will introduce the series at CTAM EuroSummit, the three-day marketing confab which starts Sept. 18.
Co-produced by AMC Studios and Endemol, the show – based on a 2006 critically-acclaimed British two-part miniseries — premiered on AMC on Aug. 11.
“‘Low Winter Sun’ perfectly complements our line-up of iconic programming on Sundance Channel Global, including ‘Breaking Bad,’ ‘Mad Men,”Hell on Wheels’ and ‘The Walking Dead.’” said Tuchman. “Our advanced rights offering enables us to work closely with operators to provide globally renowned entertainment easily across all authenticated on demand services.”
A gritty crimer lensed on location in Detroit, “Sun” toplines Mark Strong (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Lennie James (“The Walking Dead”). The first season’s 10-episode turn on a detective who kills a corrupt cop and subsequently gets pulled into the heart of Detroit’s underworld.
Mundy, whose credits include “Criminal Minds” and “Cold Case,” exec produced the series along with Dave Erickson and Rolin Jones.
