When J.J. Abrams’ Worlds Collide at ‘Star Trek’ Premiere

The past met the present at the L.A. premiere of Paramount’s “Star Trek Into Darkness” when Brad Grey momentarily called the Dolby Theater by its previous name.

“Welcome to the Kodak Theater, where they have the Oscars,” he said.

J.J. Abrams introduced the film and thanked the many people involved, and even joked at the size of his cast.

“I’m going to ask the cast to stand up as I introduce them,” he said. “The thing is all of you may be standing up when I’m done.”

Later, the past and present from Abrams world met at the parking lot behind El Capitan, where “Trek” stars Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto mingled with “Lost” stars Jorge Garcia and Dominic Monaghan.
