It was water, water everywhere in the desert, as celebs gathered at the Bellagio in Las Vegas for One Night for One Drop, a March 22 gala in honor of World Water Day. So Olympic swimmers Missy Franklin and Michael Phelps, plus members of the rowing team, joined Vegas vets Shania Twain and neatly coiffed Chris Angel, plus “Baywatch” alumna Pamela Anderson among revelers. Cirque du Soleil closed all its Vegas shows for the night as 237 performers united for a one-night-only combined water-themed perf at the O Theater.
Franklin confessed she can’t stay away from the water even when she’s out of training. “We had to take five weeks off after London and I thought I was going to die.”
But the more experienced Phelps all but rolled his eyes. “Give her a few years,” he said, adding, “After 20 years in the pool, I’m trying to stay away from water.” Franklin, Phelps and Anderson agreed that with all the time they’d spent in the water, somehow their bodies had stopped pruning. “My body just gets immune to it,” said Franklin.
