This fame’s forever

It was a Hall of Fame night for Al Michaels

It was a Hall of Fame night for Al Michaels. That was true even though NBC, employer of the “Sunday Night Football” broadcaster, isn’t exactly having a Hall of Fame year.

Michaels — one of six officially inducted into the Television Academy’s highest circle on Monday at the Beverly Hilton — thanked TV inventor and fellow inductee Philo T. Farnsworth, saying without him Michaels would have been at his “retirement dinner from State Farm Insurance in San Bernardino.”

He then addressed another honoree, “Law & Order: SVU” exec producer Dick Wolf.

“We’d better keep it up, or NBC will be working out of that State Farm insurance office in San Bernardino,” he said. “We have to at least pass Univision.”

Michaels also drew laughs as he recalled his list of broadcasting partners (“Dennis Miller — that’s a chapter; … O.J. Simpson — that’s another chapter”). But the most raucous moment of the night came early, courtesy of gala host Kaley Cuoco.

In her introductory remarks, “The Big Bang Theory” star spoke directly to CBS’ Hall of Fame inductee Leslie Moonves, tying together the recent brouhaha over her paid-for tweet praising the Dish Network’s Hopper service, which her employer is suing Dish over.

“I would like to take this opportunity to say one thing: ‘Leslie, fuck the Dish Network,’ ” Cuoco quipped. “Are we cool now? Are we good?”

With that out of the way, it was on with the show.
