Quentin Tarantino at the Huading Awards

Tarantino, Cage, Kidman adorn Chinese pageant

BUSAN — Avril Lavigne, Booboo Stewart (“Twilight,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”) Quentin Tarantino and Nicolas Cage were among the attendees Monday at China’s Huading Awards ceremony in Macau.

The event was founded by Global Talents Media and is held several times per year in order to honor personalities and achievements in the sports and entertainment field.
The latest iteration was produced by Peter Chan and Li Kwok Hoi with Hollywood’s Don Mischer as consultant. When he was hired in July he promised to bring some Hollywood star power.

The Hollywood stars each collected a prize: Jeremy Irons a lifetime achievement awards, Nicole Kidman best actress in motion pictures, and Tarantino best director in motion pictures. Cage was named ‘best global actor in motion pictures.’

The TV package will be aired first in Hong Kong by TVB on Oct. 12, and in mainland China by 67 stations between Oct. 12- 25 reaching a potential 800 million people.

Celebrities and their agents were tweeting all day as they arrived in Macau for the ceremony — and in some cases revealed the prizes they were to receive.
