WISE aims to open doors for femmes in production, broadcasting, management
Fox has partnered with the non-profit org Women in Sports and Events in an effort to open doors for women in the world of sports production and broadcasting.
The sports biz is still largely a boys’ locker room, but WISE is focused on facilitating networking and mentoring opportunities for women at all levels. Fox’s work with WISE stems from its Fox Audience Strategy unit, which is focused on increasing gender and ethnic diversity at all levels of parent company 21st Century Fox.
On Tuesday, WISE Los Angeles held a mixer event on the Fox lot that was co-hosted by Fox Audience Strategy and Fox Sports prexy-COO Eric Shanks. Also in attendance were a number of Fox Sports female on-air talent including Molly McGrath, Laura Okmin, Julie Stewart-Binks, Charissa Thompson and Asha Horne.
Founded in 2005, WISE has 10 chapters across the country.
