Starting work in November, Anthony will report to UMG chairman Lucian Grainge and CFO Boyd Muir, and will be tasked with coordinating strategic opportunities between UMG’s various labels, as well as seeking out new revenue streams and liaising with third parties.
Anthony spent the past seven years running her 7H Entertainment consulting and management firm, whose clients included Prince, Pearl Jam and Bjork. Prior to that, she served a 16-year tenure with Sony, most recently as president and COO of Sony Music Label Group U.S.
“There are scarce executives in music with the depth of Michele’s experience on both the label and artist sides of the industry,” Grainge said in a statement. “Michele’s versatility and creative approach to business will make her a valuable addition to our management team.”
