Music's Super Bowl makes temporary move to January
The 56th annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS Jan. 26, as expected.
The calendar move had been anticipated as the Grammys, like many other winter awards shows, move out of the way of coverage of the Feb. 7-23 2014 Winter Olympics. The most recent Grammys took place Feb. 10.
Jan. 26 represents the last Sunday on the calendar before the Feb. 2 Super Bowl, with the Olympics beginning the ensuing Friday.
CBS and the Recording Academy confirmed that the move to January was temporary, setting the 57th annual Grammys in 2015 for Feb. 8.
Last year’s Grammys drew 28.3 million viewers, a year after the kudofest garnered 40 million, the weekend of Whitney Houston’s passing.
