Cartoon Network, Adult Swim also align their digital and gaming foci with content for more streamlined approach
Turner Broadcasting has appointed Rob Sorcher exec vice prez and chief content officer of Cartoon network, and Mike Lazzo exec veep and creative director of Adult Swim. Pair will report to Stuart Snyder, head of Turner’s animation, young adults and kids media division.
Turner has tasked the execs with overseeing digital and gaming businesses for each of their respective areas in what is a consolidation of content, digital and gaming spheres for the cablers.
“By bringing together all content on one team for each network, we will improve communication and promote idea sharing even more and align strategic initiatives, said Snyder. “Rob and Mike have both had tremendous creative success and will now be able to drive all of the efforts around linear, online, mobile, games and apps for each of their areas, putting us in a better position to leverage all of our assets across every platform in a more cohesive way for the consumer and in the marketplace.”
Sorcher previously served as chief content officer for Cartoon Network. He has also overseen program development and production for AMC, and was an exec producer for AMC’s original programming.
Mike Lazzo, the architect behind Adult Swim’s launch in 2001, previously was senior veep of programming and production for the network and Williams Street Studios. Lazzo began his career with Cartoon Network in 1992.
