‘My Beautiful Country’ Tops Stony Brook Film Festival Awards

Serbian feature “My Beautiful Country” won best feature at the Stony Brook Film Festival awards Saturday night.

Pic, written and directed by Michaela Kezele, tells the story of a Serbian widow who takes in a soldier on the run.

The Stony Brook audience award for best feature was a tie between Gert Embrechts’ “Allez, Eddy!” and Ate de Jong’s “The Blitz.” John Burgess won best director for “One Small Hitch.”

Presenting sponsors for the festival included HBO, Suffolk County, Teachers Federal Credit Union, The Village Voice and WALK 97.5 Radio.
