CBS Extends Tonys

Tonys have aired on CBS since 1978

CBS has extended its agreement to broadcast the Tony Awards through 2018.

Through the agreement with the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, the Tonys will remain with the network that has broadcast them for the past 35 years.

This year’s Tonys will take place June 8, with Neil Patrick Harris hosting for the fourth time. After two years at the Beacon Theatre, the kudos will be held at Radio City Music Hall, with Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss returning as exec producers and Weiss directing for the 14th┬áconsecutive year.

Last year’s Tonys had their lowest overall audience in 21 years, with approximately 6 million viewers.
