NEW HAVEN — Rialto talents will come together for “From Broadway with Love: A Benefit for Sandy Hook,” set for later this month in Waterbury, Conn.
Lineup of Tony winners — many with Connecticut connections — include Brian Stokes Mitchell, Michael Cerveris, Christine Ebersole, Linda Eder and Mickey Dolenz as well as composers Stephen Schwartz, Marc Shaiman and Frank Wildhorn.
Also participating are Andrea McArdle, Jan Maxwell, Julia Murney, Seth Rudesky, Nikki Blonsky, Philip Boykin, Alan Muraoka, Robin De Jesus, Isabela Moner and members of the “Million Dollar Quartet” cast, with more performers still to be announced.
Newtown area residents Brett Boles and Broadway producer Van Dean initiated the event, with Dean and Ken Howard of Broadway Connection on board as lead producers. Michael Unger helms along with Jeff Calhoun (“Newsies”), Stephen Nachamie, David Lee and Daisy Prince. Scribe David Thompson (“The Scottsboro Boys”) is shaping the event, with Jeffrey Saver (“End of the Rainbow”) tapped as musical director.
Tickets will be provided at no cost to families directly affected by last month’s Newtown shootings and any first responders who were at the school that day. Event is set for Jan. 28 at Waterbury’s Palace Theater.
