Actor will replace Stern in the play
Bill Pullman will jump into the Broadway play “The Other Place” in February, replacing Daniel Stern for the final month of the show’s run.
Stern, who co-stars with Laurie Metcalf in the well-reviewed Manhattan Theater Club production, will exit the show Feb. 3 due to family matters, according to reps for MTC.
Pullman, currently headlining smallscreen skein “1600 Penn,” was last on the Main Stem in the 2009 revival of “Oleanna.” Prior Gotham stage credits include “The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?” and “Peter and Jerry.” In “The Other Place” he’ll play the beleaguered husband of an increasingly unstable neurologist (Metcalf) who believes she has brain cancer.
Sharr White’s play, in which Metcalf also appeared Off Broadway in the 2011 world preem at MCC Theater, has proven popular enough with MTC auds and with critics that the show recently extended by a week. Joe Mantello helms.
Pullman joind the cast Feb. 5 and will stick with the production through its March 3 closing.
