‘Nobody’ goes to Second Stage

Musical will play Off Broadway after San Diego bow

New tuner “Nobody Loves You” will round out the 2012-13 season at Off Broadway’s Second Stage Theater.

Musical joins the company’s slate after a world preem over the summer at San Diego’s Old Globe. Helmer Michelle Tattenbaum will re-team with choreographer Mandy Moore (“So You Think You Can Dance”) to stage the show’s Gotham run.

Storyline centers on a grad student who goes on a reality TV dating skein in an attempt to win back his ex. Show has music by Gaby Alter (“Band Geeks”) and book by Itamar Moses (“Boardwalk Empire”), with the duo collaborating on lyrics.

Casting for the Off Broadway incarnation has not yet been set. At the Old Globe, the ensemble included Jenni Barber, Adam Kantor, Heath Calvert and Lauren Molina, among others.

“Nobody Loves You” is the second tuner on Second Stage’s 2012-13 lineup, with the title preceded by an upcoming revival of Jason Robert Brown’s “The Last Five Years” in a production (co-starring Kantor) that opens in April.

“Nobody Loves You” is steering toward a June start, with exact dates to be announced.
