Lincoln Center sets ‘Nikolai’ cast

Michael Cerveris, Blair Brown among ensemble

Blair Brown, Michael Cerveris, John Glover and Kathryn Erbe are among the thesps on board Lincoln Center Theater’s upcoming Off Broadway production of “Nikolai and the Others,” the new play by Richard Nelson.

Play, to be directed by David Cromer (“Our Town”), follows real-life creatives including George Balanchine (Cerveris) and Igor Stravinsky (Glover) over a spring weekend in 1948. Alvin Epstein, Stephen Kunken and Dale Place, among others, also are in the cast.

Brown (“Fringe”) has previously collaborated with Nelson in “The Dead,” the 1999 musical version of the James Joyce story for which Nelson wrote the book. Fellow “Nikolai” cast members Jennifer B. Grace and Katie Kreisler have worked with Cromer in “Our Town” and “The House of Blue Leaves,” respectively.

“Nikolai,” commissioned by LCT, beings previews April 4 ahead of a May 6 opening. Further members of the 18-thesp cast remain to be announced.
