Roundabout Theater Company a.d. receives lifetime achievement award
Neil LaBute will get a star on the Lortel Theater’s Playwrights’ Sidewalk as part of the awards, which consider only Off Broadway titles in the org’s annual competish for trophies.
Mandvi recently played an Off Broadway stint in “Disgraced,” while Tierney, currently on Broadway opposite Tom Hanks in “Lucky Guy,” has appeared Off Broadway in a handful of shows including “Some Girl(s),” penned by LaBute.
Haimes has been the artistic director of Roundabout since 1990, during which time he has shepherded the company’s expansion from a small Off Broadway org to a major Gotham nonprofit that owns three Broadway houses to complement the programming in its two Off Broadway venues.
LaBute, meanwhile, is an Off Broadway regular (“Reasons to Be Pretty,” “The Shape of Things,” “Fat Pig”). His latest, “Reasons to Be Happy,” will bow at the Lortel Tehater later this spring.
Eligibility cutoff for the 2012-13 Lortels is March 31, with noms announced April 3 prior to the May 5 ceremony at New YorkU.’s SkirballCenter.
Writer-helmer Michael Heitzman will direct the kudofest, produced by the Off Broadway League’s Producing and Admin Committee by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Foundation, with support from Theater Development Fund.
