Agency expanding financing arm prior to Toronto fest
Expanding its indie financing arm before next month’s Toronto Intl. Film Festival, United Talent Agency has hired veteran international sales-distribution exec Yale Chasin.
Chasin is joining UTA’s Independent Film Group and will focus on film finance strategies for domestic and international productions. Rena Ronson and Rich Klubeck continue to co-head that division, which includes agents David Flynn, Bec Smith and the recently promoted Hailey Wierengo.
He had been at Relativity since July 2012 as VP of international sales and distribution. He had helped structure Relativity’s international output deals, handled foreign sales and oversaw international distribution of Relativity productions.
Before joining Relativity, Chasin was the VP of international distribution at The Weinstein Co., where he oversaw international distribution strategies and managed foreign releases of “The Artist,” “The Kings Speech,” “The Fighter” and “Inglorious Bastards.
Chasin joined TWC as an assistant in 2006.
