Woody Allen Is Pimping In ‘Fading Gigolo’ Trailer

Comedy heading for Toronto festival

Woody Allen is back on his Manhattan stomping ground in a new trailer for “Fading Gigolo” — which carries the distinction of being one of the few films in which he appears as an actor but does not direct.

Allen plays a bookstore owner who becomes a pimp for John Turturro, convincing him that there’s a fortune to be made in becoming a gigolo. The trailer highlights Allen firing off a succession of one-liners.

Sofia Vergara, Vanessa Paradis and Sharon Stone also star as the clients.

Turturro also directed and wrote the film. Bill Block’s QED Intl. came on board last year to produce and finance. Filming took place last fall in New York City.

The trailer was released by the Toronto Film Festival on Tuesday, following the announcement  that “Gigolo” will join other films at the festival.
