Wim Wenders’ ‘Every Thing Will Be Fine’ Gets Swedish Funds

Tomas Alfredson's "The Brothers Lionheart" also received funds from the Swedish Film Institute

Wim Wenders’ “Every Thing Will Be Fine” is one of the eight feature films which have received funds from the Swedish Film Institute.

Wenders’ follow-up to “Pina,” “Fine” is a 3D drama toplining James Franco, Rachel McAdams, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Marie-Josee Croze. Franco stars as an author at the beginning of his career who accidently runs over a child while driving on the outskirt of town on a snowy day.  Penned by Norwegian scribe Bjorn Olaf Johannessen, pic chronicles the writer’s life for 12 years.  Wenders’ Neue Road Movies co-produced with Canada’s Montauk Productions, Sweden’s Gota Film and Norway’s Mer Film. “Fine” received $160K.

Swedish Film Institute coin were also awarded to Tomas Alfredson’s “The Brothers Lionheart,” the helmer’s follow-up to Oscar-nommed “Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy.”  An adaptation of Astrid Lindgren’s  classic children fantasy novel which came out in 1973, pic is a tale of brotherly love in the afterlife. It received $1.74 million.  Gotafilm is co-producing.

Another Swedish film based on a popular 1970’s children book, Ella Lemhagen’s “Poiken med guldbyxorna” snatched up $1.2 million. It’s co-produced by Sweden’s Tre Vanner. The adventure pic is based on Max Lundgren’s bestseller.

Other feature films recipients include Ole Christian Madsen’s “Itsi Bitsi,” Ester Martin Bergsmarck’s “Something Must Break,” Ruben Ostlund’s “Tourist” and Karin Ekberg’s “A Separation.”
