Watch the First Trailer for the Wachowskis’ ‘Jupiter Ascending’ (VIDEO)

The first trailer for the Wachowski’s “Jupiter Ascending” arrived Monday and it looks every bit as extraordinary as you thought it would.

Starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, the Warner Bros. sci-fi tentpole tells the story of a young destitute human woman who is targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe because her very existence threatens to end the Queen’s reign. Tatum plays an elf-like hero who attempts to thwart her death.

Sean Bean and Eddie Redmayne co-star in “Jupiter Ascending,” which arrives July 25.

Village Roadshow co-financed and produced the film, shot this past year in London.

  1. I like the visuals, have been impressed by Kunis in a few things and actually thought Cloud Atlas was pretty good. I’m somewhat concerned about the story here, though, and am pretty tired of the “you are the one, our only hope” storyline but maybe this doesn’t go that far. I’m cautiously optimistic and pretty sure I will enjoy it visually, though I hope all the money that went into this isn’t wasted on a dumb story.

I’ve got a John Carter of Mars feeling about this.

  3. Scotty97 says:

I had no idea they were already re-making Blade Runner

  4. L. Carr says:

    god this looks dumb

  5. CitizenTM says:

PS.: ClennC – they are siblings, not brothers. One transgendered to be a woman.

  6. CitizenTM says:

Not my cup of tea for sure. Predictable. Overwrought. But might be another smash hit, regardless.

Reblogged this on Living the Geek Life and commented:
Well, I just don’t know what to make of this yet! Aside from the recurring question: “What the heck is on Channing Tatum’s face?”

What do you think of the Wachowski’s newest effort?

  8. Edwin Ngo says:

Is it just me or does this look really cheesy and dumb?

    • Ken from Toronto says:

No, it’s not just you. After the serious disappointment that was “Cloud Atlas”, I’m not sure WHAT to think.

  9. Glennc says:

I agree with you Kenneth. It does. The story looks cliched and the casting I think is just plain wrong! Kunis in this!!!!??? I think the W brothers need to really pick their projects better. They are very talented but…..

  10. kenneth says:

Gee, it’s terrible. The dialogue is awfully clumsy and Tatum looks silly.

  11. BriteBlonde1 says:

    He plays the heroine? REally?

  12. Glenn C. says:

Not sure about this one. The visuals are great but the story seems cliched. Also having Kunis in this could be a mistake. Live the W brothers work but lately…….?

  13. Agent Provocateur says:

Did they even mention The Matrix? Wow, times change.
