‘Fifty Shades of Grey’: Universal and Focus Move Production Start Date to December

Fifty Shades of Grey Casting

Sources say first week of December is now the projected start date

After it took two tries to find a leading man, Universal and Focus are postponing the production start date for “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Sources tell Variety that production is expected to be pushed from mid-November to early December.

Universal and Focus had no comment.

When Charlie Hunnam fell off the project, studio insiders said there was a chance of a delay in production even if they worked fast to find his replacement. However, insiders said that even if a production delay occurred, it was not expected to have any effect on the Aug. 1, 2014 release date.

Last week, Variety first reported that Jamie Dornan was the choice to replace Hunnam and play Christian Grey opposite Dakota Johnson in the adaptation of the E.L. James book. There are still some key parts yet to be cast including Anastasia Steele’s roommate Kate, who would still need to test with Johnson.

Sam-Taylor Johnson is directing with Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti producing.

Production Weekly reported the postponement Friday.

The director needs to read the book. Christian needs to have a magnet appeal to the opposite side like rob Lowe or matt bomer
( females ) . as for Anastasia, she has to have the looks of a naïve and innocent female. some one like selena Gomez

  2. Liz says:

Great, now they should use this extra time to recast Ana! Dakota is so not Ana and needs to be replaced! Grab a new Elliot too, and a manly Christian! They’re not sticking to the books for any of the characters! The only thing they’ve gotten right so far is Ana’s mother and that’s not even a main role! At this point I hope it gets canceled. It’s all looking bad anyway!

…..if ONLY Dakota Fanning was in the movie! And there was a PG version with no cussing and lewd & crude stuff! Or a TV version on Lifetime tv, with those HOT CHICKS from Pretty Little Liars! Lucy Hale would make a great…ah whatever!

  5. Hortencia says:

is there still a chance that dakota wont be in the film??
