Indie producer Unified Pictures is moving ahead on a CG-animated “Noah’s Ark” movie, tapping “Kung Fu Panda” director John Stevenson (pictured above) to head up the creative work on the project and Cameron Hood to co-direct.
“Noah’s Ark,” penned by Philip LaZebnik (“Mulan”) tells the Biblical tale from the point of view of the animals’ journey. Story will center on a lovable meerkat, chosen to lead a ragtag group of outcast animals to the Ark.
Production will take place in Los Angeles though Unified’s animation division.
Stevenson worked on the first two “Shrek” films and “Madagascar,” while Hood worked on “Megamind” and “First Flight.”
Unified has two films premiering in the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival – David Rosentha’s thriller “A Single Shot,” starring Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy and Jeffrey Wright, and Clark Gregg’s dark comedy “Trust Me,” starring Gregg, alongside Amanda Peet, Molly Shannon, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Allison Janney and Sam Rockwell.
Unified Pictures is a similar to Cinamour (google what happened to them) with boiler room telemarketing where most monies collected are taken as commissions and few if any of it makes it to the movies.
Great that Cameron is directing this animated feature!
