Harvey Weinstein has found a home for “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and Her,” starring Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy.

The deal for the two-part film, which portrays a couple working through a rough patch in their relationship, was closed Wednesday following screenings at the Toronto Film Festival.

The movie, which explores the relationship from the separate points of view of the couple, also stars William Hurt, Ciaran Hands, Bill Hader, Jess Wexler and Viola Davis. Ned Benson directed both films from his own script.

“Eleanor Rigby” was first unveiled at Berlin last year with Chastain and Joel Edgerton signed on to star in a love story that explores a New York City couple’s relationship during a difficult time in their marriage from the perspectives of the restaurant-owner husband and of the wife, who goes back to college. Producers announced during last year’s Cannes that McAvoy had replaced Edgerton.

Producers are Cassandra Kulukundis, Ned Benson, Jessica Chastain, Todd Labarowski and Emanuel Michael

The deal, brokered by WME Global, covers several international territories and is in the $3 million range.

It is the second major acquisition at Toronto for TWC, which spent $7 million on Saturday for U.S. rights to “Can a Song Save Your Life?”

The “Eleanor Rigby” news was first reported by Deadline.com.

  1. Dave; would love it if you gave our Kim Waltrip and Jim Casey of “Kim & Jim Productions” producer credit, as they deserve. Yes, their friends in Palm Springs are absolutely bursting-at-the-seams-ecstatic for our very own Kim and Jim! Thanks everso. Mr. Weinstein, you made a FABULOUS choice with “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby.”
