Tornatore’s ‘Offer’ closes further deals

LONDON — Giuseppe Tornatore’s “The Best Offer,” which has already grossed more than $12 million for Warner Bros. in Italy, has sold in a slew of markets through uMedia’s sales arm uConnect.

The company has closed distrib deals for the romantic drama with Filmax in Spain, Mirovision in Korea, Swen for Latin America, Forum in Israel and Feelgood in Greece. Rights have also gone to Pris in Portugal, Prime Pictures for the Middle East and MCF for the former Yugoslavia.

The English-language film, which stars Geoffrey Rush, Sylvia Hoeks, Jim Sturgess and Donald Sutherland, released through Warner Bros. Italia on Jan. 1 and has sold more than 1. 4 million tickets in Italy in seven weeks. It tells the story of an eccentric and shy art dealer and auctioneer who becomes obsessed with an heiress art collector after he is called in to oversee the valuation and sale of the art collection from an old manor house.

“The Best Offer” is produced by Isabella Cocuzza and Arturo Paglia of Paco Cinematografica in association with Warner Bros. Entertainment Italy.

Warner Bros. will release the film in Germany and Austria on March 21. Transmission Films has rights for Australia, Gaga in Japan and Cascade for Russia.
