Pic still stars Charlie Hunnam and Jessica Chastain

“Thor” actor Tom Hiddleston will replace Benedict Cumberbatch in Legendary’s horror pic “Crimson Peak,” helmed by Guillermo del Toro.

Cumberbatch left in the middle of August and Legendary worked fast to find his replacement. Hiddleston joins Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska in the pic.

Plot details are unknown as del Toro and Lucinda Coxon work through a rewrite on a script del Toro and Matthew Robbins originally penned.

Legendary will produce and be a participating financing partner on the movie, with Universal Pictures retaining an option to finance at a later date. The film is set to begin shooting in February 2014.

The WME repped Hiddleston can be seen next in “Thor: The Dark World.”

God I love Tom. There is no way he won’t win an Oscar in the next couple of years.

  2. Linda says:

I forgot to add that I’m a fan of both Benedict and Tom, and Benedict is the king of acting right now, so I’m all for cheering for Tom.

    • Kate says:

King of acting? Where did you take it from? Please, do not write that it is because he plays in many movies this year. This actually means nothing if the movies are not good

  3. Linda says:

Very glad for Tom. This is a good varying role for him instead of always being in period dramas or Shakespeare type roles. I hope he’ll rise to prominence in the next few years and get the attention from the media he deserves. He shouldn’t be stuck with being known as Loki forever.

  4. olleana says:

Hiddleston stepping into a role his friend left due to undisclosed reasons doesnt sit well with me.

  5. Ella says:

Cumberbatch’s fanbase will have a field day with this, but good for Tom! Glad to see him get more prominent roles and him, combined with Chastain and Del Toro shall make for quite a team.
