Tele Muenchen Group has picked up German and Austrian rights to Gold Circle’s upcoming laffer “Search Party,” the helming debut of comedy scribe Scot Armstrong (“The Hangover 2”).
The film, which is set to begin principal photography this spring, follows three friends who head to Mexico to save a marriage, only to be faced with carjackings, vengeful drug lords, starving coyotes, prison breaks and oversexed cabana boys.
TMG also acquired TV rights for the rest of German-speaking Europe from Joe Drake’s Good Universe, which is handling international sales. TMG subsidiary Concorde Filmverleih will distribute the film theatrically in Germany, with Concorde Home Entertainment handling rental and sell-through rights. TMG will sell all other rights to third parties.
Universal, which most recently partnered with Gold Circle on the sleeper hit “Pitch Perfect,” is releasing the film Stateside in late 2014.
“Search Party” is produced by Paul Brooks, Neal Moritz, Ravi Nandan and Armstrong, who also co-wrote the pic with Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller.
Concorde’s upcoming releases include “Beautiful Creatures,” “Iron Man 3,” “The Big Wedding” and “The Host.”
