The Nassers Remake 'The Virginian' with

Jack and Joseph Nasser are headed back to the old west, setting up an adaptation of “The Virginian” with Trace Adkins and Ron Perlman set to star.

Thomas Makowski will helm with Bob Thielke penning the script. The Nassers will produce through their Nasser Group North banner.

The property is familiar from the long-running 1960s Western TV series loosely based on the novel penned by Owen Wister. The bigscreen adaptation would return to the novel and the 1929 Gary Cooper-starring feature, turning on an enforcer for a cattle baron who makes an unwelcome discovery when investigating a rash of cattle rustling devastating the community. Adkins would play the enforcer and Perlman is on board to play the cattle baron.

Jim Harvey at Studio City Pictures will be handling the international sales. Production starts this week in Vancouver.

The Nassers recently wrapped production on “Final Girl” starring Abigail Breslin and Wes Bentley. Adkins,who is repped by CAA and Vector Management, past credits include “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “An American Carol.”

Perlman has a handful of pics set to be released this year including Legendary’s “Pacific Rim.” He’s repped by Kritzer Levine Wilkins Griffin Entertainment and can still be seen on FX’s “Sons of Anarchy.”
