Sundance Selects Re-Releasing 'We Have Pope'

In the wake of the election of Pope Francis, Sundance Selects will re-release Nanni Moretti’s comedic drama “We Have a Pope” (“Habemus Papam”) beginning next Wednesday.

“We Have a Pope” will be shown at New York’s Lincoln Plaza Cinemas and be available on digital platforms including iTunes, Amazon, Xbox, GooglePlay, Sony Play Station and SundanceNOW.

Moretti produced the film with Domenico Procacci and co-wrote with Francesco Piccolo and Federica Pontremoli. He also stars in it alongside Michel Piccoli and Jerzy Stuhr.

“We Have a Pope” premiered at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival in competition. Story followed a newly elected Pope (Piccoli) who suffers a panic attack just as he’s set to appear on St Peter’s balcony to greet the faithful.

IFC grossed $548,000 in the U.S. release last year. Worldwide grosses topped $16 million.
