Submarine sells rights to ‘Paul Bowles’

First Run, Films We Like nabs rights to docu

Submarine Entertainment has sold all distribution rights to Daniel Young’s docu “Paul Bowles: the Cage Is Always Open” to First Run Features in the U.S. and to Films We Like in Canada.

Deal was announced at Berlin, where the film is screening in the Panorama section.

First Run Features and Films We Like will coordinate a release later in the year.

“Paul Bowles: The Cage Door is Always Open” is a HesseGreutert Film Production and produced by Valentin Greutert. Exec producers are This Brunner, Stanley Buchthal, Andres Bruetsch, and Simon Hesse.

Film is based on interviews given by the “Sheltering Sky” writer shortly before his death.

It includes his wife writer Jane Bowles, Gore Vidal, John Waters, Bernardo Bertolucci, Ira Cohen, Edmund White, William Burroughs and Francis Bacon.
