Sony Picks Up ‘Silver Linings’ Author Matthew Quick’s ‘Love May Fail’

Matthew Tolmach will produce

Sony Pictures has picked up the rights to Matthew Quick’s upcoming novel “Love Me, Fail” with Matthew Tolmach attached to produce.

The manuscript went out earlier this week with a lot of interest from several studios with Sony finally moving in with the winning bid.

Story follows a woman, who after escaping her posh life and her cheating husband, finds herself transported back to her childhood home, where she sets out to reunite with a beloved high school English teacher who retired after a horrific event in the classroom.

After the recent success of “Silver Linings Playbook,” it seems every studio wants to get into business with Quick (pictured at left). Fox Searchlight recently picked up the rights to “Sorta Like a Rock Star” with Temple Hill and Gotham Group producing.

Hannah Minghella and Elizabeth Cantillon did the deal with Rich Green. Quick is repped by Sterling Lord Literistic.
