Solution Entertainment Group taps Amal ElWardi

Former IM Global exec will serve as head of acquisitions and development

Year-old indie film sales-financing banner the Solution Entertainment Group has hired IM Global exec Amal ElWardi as head of acquisitions and development.

ElWardi, who had worked at IM Global since its launch in 2007, will be looking to develop and acquire projects for the Solution and its genre production and sales label Synchronicity Entertainment. She will handle acquisitions of third party titles for international distribution as well as projects to produce and finance.

Solution toppers Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel said the hire is bring its slate of commercially driven projects to the next level. “Amal is an expert in her field with access to material and filmmakers that is truly exciting,” said Wilson and Nestel.

The Solution debuted in January 2012 as a full service international sales and financing company and handled such titles as “Writers,” “Grand Piano,” “Felony,” “November Man” and “Hector and the Search for Happiness.” Synchronicity was unveiled in July as a partnership between the Solution and Siren Studios that also covered physical production and post production services.

While at IM Global, ElWardi was involved bringing “The Butler,” “Before Midnight” and “Dead Man Down” to its slate. She’s an associate producer on “Angry Little God” and worked on matching directors and actors to a number of projects including Robert Luketic’s “Paranoia” and Scott Derrickson’s “When Gravity Fails.”

She started her career at First Look International and FilmBank Capital.
