‘Shovel Ready’: Warner Bros., 3 Arts Come on Board (EXCLUSIVE)

Story centers on a garbage man turned hitman

Warner Bros. and 3 Arts are digging into Adam Sternbergh’s “Shovel Ready,” developing a feature version of the sci-fi novel with Erwin Stoff producing.

Story is set in a dystopian future and centers on a garbageman-turned-hitman who opts to protect a young woman instead of killing her.

Sternbergh, the culture editor of the New York Times magazine, sold the novel to Crown Publishing last year.

Stoff’s recent producing credits include “Beautiful Creatures” and “Water for Elephants.”
