SHANGHAI — The Shanghai Intl. Film Festival has added two films to its Golden Goblet competish: “The Stolen Years” by Hong Kong helmer Chun-Chun Wong, and “Legend No. 17” by Russian director Nikolay Lebedev.

Stolen Years” tells the story of a woman who, after losing her memory in a car accident, tries to retrace five years of her life, and eventually comes to realize the true meaning of love. “Legend No. 17” tracks the life of star Soviet Union ice hockey player Valeri Kharlamov, from teenage years to the peak of his career when he died at the age of 33.

The fest will also host the first Film Finance Forum China, featuring Hong Kong director Tsui Hark, who will discuss the topic: “Creating Content for a Worldwide Audience.” The forum is a partnership between Winston Baker, a producer of film finance conferences, and the festival, in association with Variety. It will be held at the Crowne Plaza Shanghai on June 16.

The forum features many of the leading lights of Chinese cinema, including Wang Changtian, head of Enlight Media, Bona prexy Yu Dong, the MPA’s Asia-Pacific chief Mike Ellis, Mario Andreacchio, director of AMPCO Films, Nansun Shi from Film Workshop, and Zhang Zhao of Le Vision Pictures.

“Sessions like these are a crucial component in bridging the gap between Hollywood and China,” Stephen Scharf, partner and member of the Entertainment, Sports and Media Practice at O’Melveny and Myers LLP, a sponsor of the forum, said in a statement.

Fest topper Ren Zhonglun said that 1,655 movies from 112 countries and regions were entered into the fest, a sign of its growing international scope, and a record for the event.

A major focus at the fest will be the China Film Pitch and Catch and Co-production Pitch and Catch sessions.

The festival runs June 15-23.
