The picture is to be directed from May next year by Maneesh Sharma from a script by Habib Faisal. It will be produced by YRF’s Aditya Chopra.
Details of the story are scant, as it normal at this stage for Indian productions, but it seems that Khan, the celebrity who has tens of millions of adoring supporters, will this time turn the tables and play a fan.
“Most of the characters I do are the one I create… for the first time I am going to play what has created me.. I will be in my next a ‘FAN’,” Khan said on Twitter.
“‘FAN’ is a ‘family film’. It’s the family all of you have become for me…the one I didn’t have. I want to be as beautiful as you all. Thanx,” he added.
Khan, who recently co-starred and co-produced Bollywood record breaker “Chennai Express” is currently finishing shooting of “Happy New Year,” directed by ace choreographer turned helmer Farah Khan (no relation).
Shah Rukh Khan was earlier this week named as India’s most powerful celebrity for the second year running, by Forbes India.
The superstar has previously played with the notion of celebrity and identity in his films, most notably in “My Name Is Khan,” in which an Indian immigrant crosses the U.S. to give the American president the message: “My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist.”
