Scardino to helm ‘Going in Style’ remake

Director will take on New Line project

Don Scardino has come on to direct the remake of “Going in Style” for New Line.

Pic is a remake of the 1979 Martin Breast comedy following three old-timers (George Burns, Art Carney and Lee Strasberg) who decide to pull off a bank heist. Tony Bill, who produced the original, is on board to produce with Donald Deline; Theodore Melfi is penning the script.

The CAA- and Parseghian/Planco-repped Scardino has made a name as a director on several TV comedies, but it seems New Line has grown fond of his comedy fare. Scardino recently wrapped production on the New Line comedy “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” starring Steve Carell and Jim Carrey.

This marks the second project today New Line has set a director, having also tapped Dan Trachtenberg to helm the cult classic “Y the Last Man.”
