Santa Barbara Film Fest Accepting Entries for Movie Distribution Program

Third annual event gives buyers priority access to SBIFF films.

The Santa Barbara Film Festival is now accepting entries for its third annual Acquisitions Weekend, which runs Jan. 31-Feb. 2.

The event is organized in association with Los Angeles-based production and sales company Traction Media to give buyers priority access to SBIFF films. Movies can be submitted through withoutabox.com until Dec. 13.

Several films, including “Greencard Warriors,” “A Year in Burgundy,” “Sex After Kids” and SBIFF 2013 audience choice winner “Spinning Plates” received distribution deals last year thanks to the initiative.

Now in its 29th year, the fest, which runs from Jan. 30 to Feb. 9, has expanded and will screen more than 200 films in its 2014 edition, with a focus on independent and international cinema.
