Star reteams with helmer on WB romcom
Adam Sandler will work with a familiar collaborator on his next pic as “Click” director Frank Coraci is in negotiations to direct Warner Bros.’ untitled romcom.
This is the fourth Sandler film Coraci will helm, having previously directed “The Wedding Singer” and “The Waterboy.” Coraci also helmed “The Zookeeper” which Sandler produced.
Story revolves around a couple who, after a disastrous blind date, are stuck together in a family resort with their children from previous marriages.
Happy Madison will produce along with Mike Karz and Josie Rosen is exec producing for Karz and Gulfstream Pictures. Warners is looking for the female lead before production begins this May.
Sandler has worked with high-profile helmers such as Paul Thomas Anderson, Judd Apatow and James L. Brooks. He has also seen boffo results working with other previous collaborators: Dennis Dugan, who has helmed seven Sandler pics, and Peter Segal, who directed three — and nearly every one crossed the $100 million milestone at the domestic B.O.
Coraci most recently helmed Sony’s “Here Comes the Boom.”
