The Noirish romance-thriller reteams Roskam with "Bullhead" producer Bart van Langendonck and thesp Matthias Schoenaerts

French scribe Thomas Bidegain, a close collaborator of Gaul’s famed auteur Jacques Audiard,  is set to co-pen “The Faithful” with helmer Michael R. Roskam (“Bullhead”).

With screenwriting credits like Golden Globes-nominated romance drama “Rust And Bone” and Oscar-nominated gritty prison thriller “A Prophet” under his belt, Bidegain seems like a good fit to team-up with Roskam.

“The Faithful,”a noirish romance thriller set against the backdrop of crime gangs in Brussels, toplines Matthias Schoenaerts. The Flemish thesp has worked with both Roskam and Bidegain, delivering breakthrough performances in “Bullhead,” which competed for a foreign-language Oscar in 2012, and “Rust And Bone.”

Pic also reteams Roskam with his “Bullhead” producer Bart van Langendonck at Brussels-based Savage Film. Pierre-Ange Le Pogam’s French outfit Stone Angels is co-producing.

Van Langendonck, who was attending Les Arcs’ co-production village to pitch the international thriller “Equator” and black comedy “Liebling,” said the script of “The Faithful” will be completed in approximately a month.  The casting of the leading actress will soon be unveiled.

Roskam last directed “Animal Rescue” with Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, James Gandolfini and Schoenaerts. His projects in the U.S. include the “Buda Bridge” pilot for HBO.
