After years of helming documentaries and TV shows, R.J. Cutler is closing in on his first narrative feature directing gig: Summit Entertainment’s “If I Stay.”Cutler is in talks to direct the supernatural music pic with Chloe Moretz attached to star. Denise DiNovi and Alison Greenspan of DiNovi Pictures will produce, with Lionsgate production prexy Erik Feig and senior veep Gillian Bohrer overseeing the project for the studio. Based on Gayle Forman’s 2009 novel, “If I Stay” revolves around the relationship between a femme classical musician and her indie rock-star boyfriend. Cutler, who helmed “The September Issue,” is shepherding the ABC drama “Nashville” as an exec producer for Lionsgate, where he has an overall TV deal. He recently debuted political doc “The World According to Dick Cheney” at the Sundance Film Festival. Moretz’s upcoming pics include “Carrie,” “Kick-Ass 2″ and “Movie 43.” Cutler is repped by CAA and Mosaic Media Group. Moretz is with WME.
